I appreciate your efforts in compiling this website. I listen to ghazals all the time. Hindi, Urdu and Marathi…I love your collection, there are quite a few ghazals I hadnt heard before. I always had trouble understanding some Urdu shaire. I would search for translations online or bug my friends who understand Urdu better than I do….

Dear “ek fankaar”, I believe that “Aahat si koi aaye to lagta hai ki tum ho” would be another beautiful ghazal to be a part of your wonderful collection.This is sung by Bhupinder, i remember, and is in the collection “Journey”. Journey has some other soulful ghazals like “aap jinke qareeb hote hain” sung by Pankaj Udhas and “tum naghma-e-maho anjum ho” by talat aziz.I would appreciate if you would post all these soulful renditions.

seem o zar is persian for seem(silver) zar (sonaor gold) means wealth khazaana lots of money.
zari boutique means sona ka kaam on fabric.
seemaab is mercury too , and mercury (seem ) is expensive too.

I think this is the best site as far as ghazal is concerned. The best part of this site is that it is non partisan(I think Jagjitji’s highest number of posting is just incidental ;)). The way the words are explained are excellent. One humble suggestion, if you could add translation of the shers as a whole. Great work nevertheless.
This is the best translation and preservation of the wonderous world of classical ghazals i have yet to experience on the net. Thank you profusely for this.

@ although I don’t need to learn Urdu or Urdu poetry,
but I discovered atleast, Khansaheb Mehdi Hassan’s
ghazals in a very fine acoustic, hearing each and
every note clearly, and of course his Ghazal’s choice
and selection of Raag’s thaat is sublime, just sublime¨
He is the only one who has used minimum 28 different
major raag-thaats, its amazing.

Jis khoobsurti se aapne ye geet/ghazal/nazm chune hain, ye kaabil-e-tareef hai.. I agree the best way to learn a new language is music. I belong to pure hindi background and started singing around class 8th. When my guru ji introduces me to the melodious world of Ghazals I was smitten by its charisma specially the beauty of language URDU. Though in the struggle of life I left music, but still am connected to URDU via poetry.

prestigious documentary film on Amir Khusro. Recently Lok Sabha T.VChannel
made a documentary film on me and my rare collection on Amir
Khusro.Hindustan Times recently interviewed me for my passion, work and
rare collectionof material on Amir Khusro. At present I am preparing my
self to enter my namein Gunnies Books of World Records.
Now AIR ie All India Radio is making aaudio documentary on my research and
collection on Amir Khusro.
I work as a freelance journalist. Also at present I am working as a
consultantfor Aga Khan Foundation on Amir Khusro project under Humayun’s
Tomb, HazratNizamuddin Basti, Sunder Nursery Urban Renewal Project.
We are organising a international Music festival cum lectures on Amir

I am also collecting Hindavi ie Khari Boli poetry of Amir Khusro. Also I
have made possible translation of all the Hindivi poetry of Amir Khusro
which I have collected in the past 15 years in Persian for Central Asian
countries. Now all these countries will know for the first time the nature,
style and lyrics of Hindavi poetry of Amir Khusro.
You wiil be surprised to know that even after 756 years of the visaal ie
death of Amir Khusro none of his Persian books has been translated in Hindi
, only one Masnavi Nuh Sipihr ie Nine Skies in Urdu and that too
incomplete as the translater has left the meaning of those couplets which
he could not understood and below standerd, Only two in English and that
too incomplete ie first prose work Khazain-ul-Futuh was translated by
historian Irfan Habib and scholar Dr Wahid Mirza and second prose work
Ejaz-e-Khusravi was translated by a panel of Persian scholars by the
initiative of Amir Khusro Society of America but both incomplete. Even
many persian manuscripts of Amir Khusros are still lying unedited and
unpublished in various museums and libraries of the world. 90% of his
Persian works and published books are out of print since 94 and 75 years.
So in the past 15 years I have made possible translation of about 2000
pages of Persian works of Amir Khusro in Hindi, Urdu and English. These
translations are done by renouned persian scholars Dr Tanveer Ahmed Alvi
and Janab Ishrat saheb on my personal money. I have no govt funds and i
have spent all the money from my personal savings ie salary.

(1.)
ग़रीबों को फ़क़त, उपदेश की घुट्टी पिलाते हो
बड़े आराम से तुम, चैन की बंसी बजाते हो
है मुश्किल दौर, सूखी रोटियां भी दूर हैं हमसे
मज़े से तुम कभी काजू, कभी किशमिश चबाते हो
नज़र आती नहीं, मुफ़लिस की आँखों में तो खुशहाली
कहाँ तुम रात-दिन, झूठे उन्हें सपने दिखाते हो
अँधेरा करके बैठे हो, हमारी ज़िन्दगानी में
मगर अपनी हथेली पर, नया सूरज उगाते हो
व्यवस्था कष्टकारी क्यों न हो, किरदार ऐसा है
ये जनता जानती है सब, कहाँ तुम सर झुकाते हो
(2.)
जो व्यवस्था भ्रष्ट हो, फ़ौरन बदलनी चाहिए
लोकशाही की नई, सूरत निकलनी चाहिए
मुफलिसों के हाल पर, आंसू बहाना व्यर्थ है
क्रोध की ज्वाला से अब, सत्ता बदलनी चाहिए
इंकलाबी दौर को, तेज़ाब दो जज़्बात का
आग यह बदलाव की, हर वक्त जलनी चाहिए
रोटियां ईमान की, खाएं सभी अब दोस्तो
दाल भ्रष्टाचार की, हरगिज न गलनी चाहिए
अम्न है नारा हमारा, लाल हैं हम विश्व के
बात यह हर शख़्स के, मुहं से निकलनी चाहिए

बाज़ार मैं बैठे मगर बिकना नहीं सीखा
हालात के आगे कभी झुकना नहीं सीखा
तन्हाई मैं जब छू गई यादें मिरे दिल को
फिर आंसुओं ने आँख मैं रुकना नहीं सीखा
फिर आईने को बेवफा के रूबरू रक्खा
मैंने वफ़ा की लाश को ढकना नहीं सीखा
जब चल पड़े मंजिल की जानिब ये कदम मेरे
फिर आँधियों के सामने रुकना नहीं सीखा

साधना कर यूँ सुरों की, सब कहें क्या सुर मिला
बज उठें सब साज दिल के, आज तू यूँ गुनगुना
हाय! दिलबर चुप न बैठो, राज़े-दिल अब खोल दो
बज़्मे-उल्फ़त में छिड़ा है, गुफ़्तगूं का सिलसिला
उसने हरदम कष्ट पाए, कामना जिसने भी की
व्यर्थ मत जी को जलाओ, सोच सब अच्छा हुआ
इश्क़ की दुनिया निराली, क्या कहूँ मैं दोस्तो
बिन पिए ही मय की प्याली, छा रहा मुझपर नशा
मीरो-ग़ालिब की ज़मीं पर, शेर जो मैंने कहे
कहकशां सजने लगा और लुत्फ़े-महफ़िल आ गया

बड़ी तकलीफ देते हैं ये रिश्ते
यही उपहार देते रोज़ अपने
ज़मीं से आस्मां तक फ़ैल जाएँ
धनक में ख्वाहिशों के रंग बिखरे
नहीं टूटे कभी जो मुश्किलों से
बहुत खुद्दार हमने लोग देखे
ये कड़वा सच है यारों मुफलिसी का
यहाँ हर आँख में हैं टूटे सपने
कहाँ ले जायेगा मुझको ज़माना
बड़ी उलझन है, कोई हल तो निकले

तीरो-तलवार से नहीं होता
काम हथियार से नहीं होता
घाव भरता है धीरे-धीरे ही
कुछ भी रफ़्तार से नहीं होता
खेल में भावना है ज़िंदा तो
फ़र्क कुछ हार से नहीं होता
सिर्फ़ नुक्सान होता है यारो
लाभ तकरार से नहीं होता
उसपे कल रोटियां लपेटे सब
कुछ भी अख़बार से नहीं होता

यूँ जहाँ तक बने चुप ही मै रहता हूँ
कुछ जो कहना पड़े तो ग़ज़ल कहता हूँ
जो भी कहना हो काग़ज़ पे करके रक़म
फिर क़लम रखके ख़ामोश हो रहता हूँ
दोस्तो! जिन दिनों ज़िंदगी थी ग़ज़ल
ख़ुश था मै उन दिनों, अब नहीं रहता हूँ
ढूंढ़ते हो कहाँ मुझको ऐ दोस्तो
आबशारे-ग़ज़ल बनके मै बहता हूँ

चढ़ा हूँ मै गुमनाम उन सीढियों तक
मिरा ज़िक्र होगा कई पीढ़ियों तक
ये बदनाम क़िस्से, मिरी ज़िंदगी को
नया रंग देंगे, कई पीढ़ियों तक
ज़मा शायरी उम्रभर की है पूंजी
ये दौलत ही रह जाएगी पीढ़ियों तक
“महावीर” क्यों मौत का है तुम्हे ग़म
ग़ज़ल बनके जीना है अब पीढ़ियों तक

काश! होता मज़ा कहानी में
दिल मिरा बुझ गया जवानी में
फूल खिलते न अब चमेली पर
बात वो है न रातरानी में
उनकी उल्फ़त में ये मिला हमको
ज़ख़्म पाए हैं बस निशानी में
आओ दिखलायें एक अनहोनी
आग लगती है कैसे पानी में
तुम रहे पाक़-साफ़ दिल हरदम
मै रहा सिर्फ बदगुमानी में

रेशा-रेशा, पत्ता-बूटा
शाखें चटकीं, दिल-सा टूटा
ग़ैरों से शिकवा क्या करते
गुलशन तो अपनों ने लूटा
ये इश्क़ है इल्ज़ाम अगर तो
दे इल्ज़ाम मुझे मत झूटा
तुम क्या यार गए दुनिया से
प्यारा-सा इक साथी छूटा
शिकवा क्या ऊपर वाले से
भाग मिरा खुद ही था फूटा

जां से बढ़कर है आन भारत की
कुल जमा दास्तान भारत की
सोच ज़िंदा है और ताज़ादम
नौ’जवां है कमान भारत की
देश का ही नमक मिरे भीतर
बोलता हूँ ज़बान भारत की
क़द्र करता है सबकी हिन्दोस्तां
पीढियां हैं महान भारत की
सुर्खरू आज तक है दुनिया में
आन-बान और शान भारत की

खेल यारो! नसीब का ही है
प्यार भी तो उसी से मिलता है
है “महावीर” जांनिसारी क्या

तलवारें दोधारी क्या
सुख-दुःख बारी-बारी क्या
क़त्ल ही मेरा ठहरा तो

चोट कज़ा की पड़नी है
बालक क्या, नर-नारी क्या
पूछ किसी से दीवाने
करमन की गति न्यारी क्या

हार किसी को भी स्वीकार नहीं होती
जीत मगर प्यारे हर बार नहीं होती
एक बिना दूजे का, अर्थ नहीं रहता
जीत कहाँ पाते, यदि हार नहीं होती
बैठा रहता मैं भी एक किनारे पर
राह अगर मेरी दुशवार नहीं होती
डर मत लह्रों से, आ पतवार उठा ले
बैठ किनारे, नैया पार नहीं होती
खाकर रूखी-सूखी, चैन से सोते सब
इच्छाएं यदि लाख उधार नहीं होती

तसव्वुर का नशा गहरा हुआ है
दिवाना बिन पिए ही झूमता है
गुज़र अब साथ भी मुमकिन कहाँ था
मैं उसको वो मुझे पहचानता है
गिरी बिजली नशेमन पर हमारे
न रोया कोई कैसा हादिसा है
बलन्दी नाचती है सर पे चढ़के
कहाँ वो मेरी जानिब देखता है
जिसे कल ग़ैर समझे थे वही अब
रगे-जां में हमारी आ बसा है

नज़र में रौशनी है
वफ़ा की ताज़गी है
जियूं चाहे मैं जैसे
ये मेरी ज़िंदगी है
ग़ज़ल की प्यास हरदम
लहू क्यों मांगती है
मिरी आवारगी में
फ़क़त तेरी कमी है
इसे दिल में बसा लो
ये मेरी शा’इरी है

सोच का इक दायरा है, उससे मैं कैसे उठूँ
सालती तो हैं बहुत यादें, मगर मैं क्या करूँ
ज़िंदगी है तेज़ रौ, बह जायेगा सब कुछ यहाँ
कब तलक मैं आँधियों से, जूझता-लड़ता रहूँ
हादिसे इतने हुए हैं दोस्ती के नाम पर
इक तमाचा-सा लगे है, यार जब कहने लगूं
जा रहे हो छोड़कर इतना बता दो तुम मुझे
मैं तुम्हारी याद में तड़पूँ या फिर रोता फिरूँ
सच हों मेरे स्वप्न सारे, जी, तो चाहे काश मैं
पंछियों से पंख लेकर, आसमाँ छूने लगूं

दिल से उसके जाने कैसा बैर निकला
जिससे अपनापन मिला वो ग़ैर निकला
था करम उस पर ख़ुदा का इसलिए ही
डूबता वो शख़्स कैसा तैर निकला
मौज-मस्ती में आख़िर खो गया क्यों
जो बशर करने चमन की सैर निकला
सभ्यता किस दौर में पहुँची है आख़िर
बंद बोरी से कटा इक पैर निकला
वो वफ़ादारी में निकला यूँ अब्बल
आंसुओं में धुलके सारा बैर निकला

चीरकर दिल दिखा नहीं सकता

आपको भी कुछ कमी है
पढ़ लिया उनका भी चेहरा
बंद आँखों में नमी है
सच ज़रा छूके जो गुज़रा
दिल में अब तक सनसनी है
भूल बैठा हादिसों में
ग़म है क्या और क्या ख़ुशी है
दर्द काग़ज़ में जो उतरा
तब ये जाना शाइरी है

छाँव का मंज़र लुटा जाता है
रौशनी में इस कदर पैनापन
आँख में सुइयां चुभा जाता है
चहचहाते पंछियों के कलरव में
प्यार का मौसम खिला जाता है
फूल-पत्तों पर लिखा कुदरत ने
वो करिश्मा कब पढ़ा जाता है

ग़ज़लकार : महावीर उत्तरांचली
(1.)
ग़रीबों को फ़क़त, उपदेश की घुट्टी पिलाते हो
बड़े आराम से तुम, चैन की बंसी बजाते हो
है मुश्किल दौर, सूखी रोटियां भी दूर हैं हमसे
मज़े से तुम कभी काजू, कभी किशमिश चबाते हो
नज़र आती नहीं, मुफ़लिस की आँखों में तो खुशहाली
कहाँ तुम रात-दिन, झूठे उन्हें सपने दिखाते हो
अँधेरा करके बैठे हो, हमारी ज़िन्दगानी में
मगर अपनी हथेली पर, नया सूरज उगाते हो
व्यवस्था कष्टकारी क्यों न हो, किरदार ऐसा है
ये जनता जानती है सब, कहाँ तुम सर झुकाते हो
(2.)
जो व्यवस्था भ्रष्ट हो, फ़ौरन बदलनी चाहिए
लोकशाही की नई, सूरत निकलनी चाहिए
मुफलिसों के हाल पर, आंसू बहाना व्यर्थ है
क्रोध की ज्वाला से अब, सत्ता बदलनी चाहिए
इंकलाबी दौर को, तेज़ाब दो जज़्बात का
आग यह बदलाव की, हर वक्त जलनी चाहिए
रोटियां ईमान की, खाएं सभी अब दोस्तो
दाल भ्रष्टाचार की, हरगिज न गलनी चाहिए
अम्न है नारा हमारा, लाल हैं हम विश्व के
बात यह हर शख़्स के, मुहं से निकलनी चाहिए

बाज़ार मैं बैठे मगर बिकना नहीं सीखा
हालात के आगे कभी झुकना नहीं सीखा
तन्हाई मैं जब छू गई यादें मिरे दिल को
फिर आंसुओं ने आँख मैं रुकना नहीं सीखा
फिर आईने को बेवफा के रूबरू रक्खा
मैंने वफ़ा की लाश को ढकना नहीं सीखा
जब चल पड़े मंजिल की जानिब ये कदम मेरे
फिर आँधियों के सामने रुकना नहीं सीखा

साधना कर यूँ सुरों की, सब कहें क्या सुर मिला
बज उठें सब साज दिल के, आज तू यूँ गुनगुना
हाय! दिलबर चुप न बैठो, राज़े-दिल अब खोल दो
बज़्मे-उल्फ़त में छिड़ा है, गुफ़्तगूं का सिलसिला
उसने हरदम कष्ट पाए, कामना जिसने भी की
व्यर्थ मत जी को जलाओ, सोच सब अच्छा हुआ
इश्क़ की दुनिया निराली, क्या कहूँ मैं दोस्तो
बिन पिए ही मय की प्याली, छा रहा मुझपर नशा
मीरो-ग़ालिब की ज़मीं पर, शेर जो मैंने कहे
कहकशां सजने लगा और लुत्फ़े-महफ़िल आ गया
(5.)
बड़ी तकलीफ देते हैं ये रिश्ते
यही उपहार देते रोज़ अपने
ज़मीं से आस्मां तक फ़ैल जाएँ
धनक में ख्वाहिशों के रंग बिखरे
नहीं टूटे कभी जो मुश्किलों से
बहुत खुद्दार हमने लोग देखे
ये कड़वा सच है यारों मुफलिसी का
यहाँ हर आँख में हैं टूटे सपने
कहाँ ले जायेगा मुझको ज़माना
बड़ी उलझन है, कोई हल तो निकले
(6.)
तीरो-तलवार से नहीं होता
काम हथियार से नहीं होता
घाव भरता है धीरे-धीरे ही
कुछ भी रफ़्तार से नहीं होता
खेल में भावना है ज़िंदा तो
फ़र्क कुछ हार से नहीं होता
सिर्फ़ नुक्सान होता है यारो
लाभ तकरार से नहीं होता
उसपे कल रोटियां लपेटे सब
कुछ भी अख़बार से नहीं होता

यूँ जहाँ तक बने चुप ही मै रहता हूँ
कुछ जो कहना पड़े तो ग़ज़ल कहता हूँ
जो भी कहना हो काग़ज़ पे करके रक़म
फिर क़लम रखके ख़ामोश हो रहता हूँ
दोस्तो! जिन दिनों ज़िंदगी थी ग़ज़ल
ख़ुश था मै उन दिनों, अब नहीं रहता हूँ
ढूंढ़ते हो कहाँ मुझको ऐ दोस्तो
आबशारे-ग़ज़ल बनके मै बहता हूँ

चढ़ा हूँ मै गुमनाम उन सीढियों तक
मिरा ज़िक्र होगा कई पीढ़ियों तक
ये बदनाम क़िस्से, मिरी ज़िंदगी को
नया रंग देंगे, कई पीढ़ियों तक
ज़मा शायरी उम्रभर की है पूंजी
ये दौलत ही रह जाएगी पीढ़ियों तक
“महावीर” क्यों मौत का है तुम्हे ग़म
ग़ज़ल बनके जीना है अब पीढ़ियों तक

काश! होता मज़ा कहानी में
दिल मिरा बुझ गया जवानी में
फूल खिलते न अब चमेली पर
बात वो है न रातरानी में
उनकी उल्फ़त में ये मिला हमको
ज़ख़्म पाए हैं बस निशानी में
आओ दिखलायें एक अनहोनी
आग लगती है कैसे पानी में
तुम रहे पाक़-साफ़ दिल हरदम
मै रहा सिर्फ बदगुमानी में

रेशा-रेशा, पत्ता-बूटा
शाखें चटकीं, दिल-सा टूटा
ग़ैरों से शिकवा क्या करते
गुलशन तो अपनों ने लूटा
ये इश्क़ है इल्ज़ाम अगर तो
दे इल्ज़ाम मुझे मत झूटा
तुम क्या यार गए दुनिया से
प्यारा-सा इक साथी छूटा
शिकवा क्या ऊपर वाले से
भाग मिरा खुद ही था फूटा

जां से बढ़कर है आन भारत की
कुल जमा दास्तान भारत की
सोच ज़िंदा है और ताज़ादम
नौ’जवां है कमान भारत की
देश का ही नमक मिरे भीतर
बोलता हूँ ज़बान भारत की
क़द्र करता है सबकी हिन्दोस्तां
पीढियां हैं महान भारत की
सुर्खरू आज तक है दुनिया में
आन-बान और शान भारत की

दिल मिरा जब किसी से मिलता है
तो लगे आप ही से मिलता है
लुत्फ़ वो अब कहीं नहीं मिलता
लुत्फ़ जो शा’इरी से मिलता है
दुश्मनी का भी मान रख लेना
जज़्बा ये दोस्ती से मिलता है
खेल यारो! नसीब का ही है
प्यार भी तो उसी से मिलता है
है “महावीर” जांनिसारी क्या
जज़्बा ये आशिक़ी से मिलता है

फ़न क्या है फनकारी क्या
दिल क्या है दिलदारी क्या
जान रही है जनता सब
सर क्या है, सरकारी क्या
झांक ज़रा गुर्बत में तू
ज़र क्या है, ज़रदारी क्या
सोच फकीरों के आगे
दर क्या है, दरबारी क्या

तलवारें दोधारी क्या
सुख-दुःख बारी-बारी क्या
क़त्ल ही मेरा ठहरा तो
फांसी, खंजर, आरी क्या
कौन किसी की सुनता है
मेरी और तुम्हारी क्या
चोट कज़ा की पड़नी है
बालक क्या, नर-नारी क्या
पूछ किसी से दीवाने
करमन की गति न्यारी क्या
(15.)
हार किसी को भी स्वीकार नहीं होती
जीत मगर प्यारे हर बार नहीं होती
एक बिना दूजे का, अर्थ नहीं रहता
जीत कहाँ पाते, यदि हार नहीं होती
बैठा रहता मैं भी एक किनारे पर
राह अगर मेरी दुशवार नहीं होती
डर मत लह्रों से, आ पतवार उठा ले
बैठ किनारे, नैया पार नहीं होती
खाकर रूखी-सूखी, चैन से सोते सब
इच्छाएं यदि लाख उधार नहीं होती

तसव्वुर का नशा गहरा हुआ है
दिवाना बिन पिए ही झूमता है
गुज़र अब साथ भी मुमकिन कहाँ था
मैं उसको वो मुझे पहचानता है
गिरी बिजली नशेमन पर हमारे
न रोया कोई कैसा हादिसा है
बलन्दी नाचती है सर पे चढ़के
कहाँ वो मेरी जानिब देखता है
जिसे कल ग़ैर समझे थे वही अब
रगे-जां में हमारी आ बसा है

नज़र में रौशनी है
वफ़ा की ताज़गी है
जियूं चाहे मैं जैसे
ये मेरी ज़िंदगी है
ग़ज़ल की प्यास हरदम
लहू क्यों मांगती है
मिरी आवारगी में
फ़क़त तेरी कमी है
इसे दिल में बसा लो
ये मेरी शा’इरी है

सोच का इक दायरा है, उससे मैं कैसे उठूँ
सालती तो हैं बहुत यादें, मगर मैं क्या करूँ
ज़िंदगी है तेज़ रौ, बह जायेगा सब कुछ यहाँ
कब तलक मैं आँधियों से, जूझता-लड़ता रहूँ
हादिसे इतने हुए हैं दोस्ती के नाम पर
इक तमाचा-सा लगे है, यार जब कहने लगूं
जा रहे हो छोड़कर इतना बता दो तुम मुझे
मैं तुम्हारी याद में तड़पूँ या फिर रोता फिरूँ
सच हों मेरे स्वप्न सारे, जी, तो चाहे काश मैं
पंछियों से पंख लेकर, आसमाँ छूने लगूं

दिल से उसके जाने कैसा बैर निकला
जिससे अपनापन मिला वो ग़ैर निकला
था करम उस पर ख़ुदा का इसलिए ही
डूबता वो शख़्स कैसा तैर निकला
मौज-मस्ती में आख़िर खो गया क्यों
जो बशर करने चमन की सैर निकला
सभ्यता किस दौर में पहुँची है आख़िर
बंद बोरी से कटा इक पैर निकला
वो वफ़ादारी में निकला यूँ अब्बल
आंसुओं में धुलके सारा बैर निकला

आपको मैं मना नहीं सकता
चीरकर दिल दिखा नहीं सकता
इतना पानी है मेरी आँखों में
बादलों में समा नहीं सकता
तू फरिश्ता है दिल से कहता हूँ
कोई तुझसा मैं ला नहीं सकता
हर तरफ़ एक शोर मचता है
सामने सबके आ नहीं सकता
कितनी ही शौहरत मिले लेकिन
क़र्ज़ माँ का चुका नहीं सकता

राह उनकी देखता है
दिल दिवाना हो गया है
छा रही है बदहवासी
दर्द मुझको पी रहा है
कुछ रहम तो कीजिये अब
दिल हमारा आपका है
आप जबसे हमसफ़र हो
रास्ता कटने लगा है
ख़त्म हो जाने कहाँ अब
ज़िंदगी का क्या पता है

नज़र को चीरता जाता है मंज़र
बला का खेल खेले है समन्दर
मुझे अब मार डालेगा यकीनन
लगा है हाथ फिर क़ातिल के खंजर
है मकसद एक सबका उसको पाना
मिल मस्जिद में या मंदिर में जाकर
पलक झपकें तो जीवन बीत जाये
ये मेला चार दिन रहता है अक्सर
नवाज़िश है तिरी मुझ पर तभी तो
मिरे मालिक खड़ा हूँ आज तनकर

बीती बातें याद न कर
जी में चुभता है नश्तर
हासिल कब तक़रार यहाँ
टूट गए कितने ही घर
चाँद-सितारे साथी थे
नींद न आई एक पहर
तनहा हूँ मैं बरसों से
मुझ पर भी तो डाल नज़र
पीर न अपनी व्यक्त करो
यह उपकार करो मुझ पर

छूने को आसमान काफ़ी है
पर अभी कुछ उड़ान बाक़ी है
कैसे ईमाँ बचाएं हम अपना
सामने खुशबयान साकी है
कैसे वो दर्द को ज़बां देगा
क़ैद में बेज़बान पाखी है
लक्ष्य पाकर भी क्यों कहे दुनिया
कुछ तिरा इम्तिहान बाक़ी है
कहने हैं कुछ नए फ़साने भी
इक नया आसमान बाक़ी है

i am deeply drawn towards the sufi music and gazals….but as a non hindi speaking person i find it difficult to understand few words….this is an amazing work by you and no words for all the efforts you have put into this……today itself i discovered this site….great day…
It is really a wonderful experience to see the hard work of making the hindi/urdu languages more closer to the hearts of all music and poetry lovers !! This is an outstanding creative effort !!

Love to learn the languages
This is a wonderful initiative. A gift to all who love Urdu/ Hindi poetry and music and whose knowledge of the language is not at the expert level. Would be nice to see more of Faiz’s poems. Right now I am trying to find a good translation of hum jo tareek raahon me mare gaye.
